About Springhurst Bakery

Welcome to our little homey online bakery offering delicious homemade goodies! We are located in Louisville, KY.

I am a self-taught home baker and I love baking. Baking is like my therapy. Using my hands to create something that others will enjoy brings peace and joy to my soul.

Macarons are my best friend, my therapist, my muse. I have been baking macarons for several years, continuously working on perfecting my recipe and my craft. But even today baking macarons is a big challenge for me. It is said
that every time you bake these delicate goodies, you should ask the Macaron God for success in your baking.

Macarons are fickle little treats. Sometimes they can be very impish. They may mischievously change their shape or structure while baking and you can’t be mad at them for that. They have a mind of their own!

My name is Gabriela. I am a home baker, Mom to a wonderful son, a creative soul, a photographer of my creations, a web design novice, and a cancer survivor.
When I was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2018, I had no idea what the outcome would be. You don’t know if you’ll die, or if you’ll be lucky and survive. I thank God every day that I am still here with all my loved ones. I am grateful

that I have survived this very challenging time of my life. It was hard, and I realize that not everyone’s diagnosis has a positive outcome.

If you or your loved ones are going through similar challenges, know that I can relate. Please never give up and hope! My heart goes out to all who lost a loved one to this horrible disease. My mother lost her battle to cancer and although it has been a long time, I can still feel the pain. I miss her so very much every single day.

Unfortunately, as I was going through the radiation treatment, I lost my sense of taste for a couple of months. But even then, I hadn’t stopped baking my goodies. On the contrary, I continued to bake to remain positive and not think about the worst. My son started helping me.
He tested and tasted all my “baking experiments” and became an irreplaceable partner. We are a strong team that likes to meet over our sweet treats. Our team has created many delicious baked goods to delight your sweet tooth!

My son Vincent has been helping me with baking since he was a little boy. Here he is about 2 years old making gingerbread cookies, classic European Christmas treats.

My baked goods are mostly gluten-free, dairy-free, and soy-free. After my cancer treatment my body has developed sensitivity to these ingredients and can no longer tolerate them. I gradually started to modify my family European recipes
that are now healthier and more digestible for me.

I am happy to offer you all the baked goods that I initially created for myself.

I hope you will enjoy my macarons and other baked treats. If, for some reason, you do not enjoy any of my products, please do not hesitate to contact me. I will gladly provide a refund.

All my baked goods are homemade and handmade by me. Every piece is original and contains only the best quality ingredients to delight your senses and honor your body.

Why the name Springhurst Bakery? I live in the Louisville neighborhood "The Villages of Springhurst". This area is the most beautiful during springtime. The blossoming trees and flowers in the spring give you the feeling you are in a fairy tale world.

Thank you for visiting my website! I look forward to baking something delicious for you!
